BLOG TOUR: Girlish by Lara Lillibridge

Hey y’all, long time no blog, I’m well aware. And I thought, “What better way to get  back into the swing of things than being apart of a blog tour. Today, I’m revving up to talk about Girlish: Growing Up in a Lesbian Home by Lara Lillibridge (coming out April 3, 2018), which, according to the book’s Goodreads page, is “An honest, unfiltered memoir about a girl with an unconventional family.” Stay tuned for the end for some giveaway info!

I received a review copy from NetGalley and have started reading it, but have definitely not finished. From what I have read however, I can tell you right off the bat that this book is exactly as described. It’s about “Girl” who couldn’t care less about her mothers’ sexuality, and more about how she fits in a world that is so concerned and obsessed with it. Girlish holds nothing back and tells all: the good, the bad, the ugly. People are bad because they’re bad, not because they’re lesbian or gay or man or whatever. Girl grows up neither the poster child for or against same-sex parenting.

Another quote that I deem pretty fitting from the book’s Goodreads: “Raised to be a free spirit by norm-defying parents, Girl has to define her own boundaries as she tries to fit into heteronormative suburban life, all while navigating her mother’s expectations, her stepmother’s mental illness, and her father’s serial divorces.”

Anyway, now that I’ve established enough context, let’s get on to the giveaway. If you would like to have a chance to win a copy of Girlish, here’s the details:
